Introduction – Organization Factors for CPS

WELCOME…

Great leaders and successful businesspeople, recognized the importance in organizing themselves and others, in order to achieve objectives. This was done by setting up clear plans and systems. These are then converted into action by briefing, training and managing people to perform their roles. Henry Ford could not have led the Ford Motor Company to achieve such success without having had a well-structured organizational plan in place for both people and processes. Another example is Margaret Sanger, a prolific leader in the process of having people actively involved in managing and organizing their own health. She founded the American Birth Control League. 

So, are you and your organization focusing on the right things, or wasting time and money? Are you doing the right things and also doing things right? They are not always the same! Organization of people is often complex and is often seen as a prime activity of managers, however everyone should be responsible and organize themselves effectively. A start point is the agreement on the key business result areas, for both the team and individuals. This can be achieved by using the skills of discussion and summarizing, as well as enquiry.

You can improve your approach to Communication and Problem Solving (CPS), by using key organization factors, that have been shown to be vital in all professional roles. Used in conjunction with the Margerison CPS Model, these factors provide guide points to the five big skills of Enquiry, Diagnosis, Proposing, Coordinating and Summarizing. This will enable you to clarify problems and develop solutions more effectively, via discussions and decisions. In doing so, you will gain thoughts on how to improve your own organization and insights on how to address these by setting objectives and converting them to outputs and results.
