Not only was he an internationally famous footballer, he continued to improve his life and became the first indigenous student to graduate from University. Born and raised in the aboriginal tradition, and well educated and skilled, he was ideally equipped to help bring about more understanding and integration. Charles became a national Aboriginal hero and a spokesman on their behalf, always looking for justice for the indigenous people.
